我觉得现在让孩子在体育活动上吃苦是有这个必要的。我认识在美国的一些孩子小学时候在一项体育每周花5个小时，很多孩子同时玩两项体育，到初中后，每周体育运动少的每周10小时，多的每周20小时，完全没有夸大。
练冰球的周末早上5点起床，游泳队的早上上课前游泳训练，下课后再回到泳池训练，这样的训练下学生才能算有特长，在顶尖高中体育队才能拿到一席之位。不少美高学生参加体育队训练后，体力都撑不住，很难和美国孩子一较长短。
家长需要根据孩子的能力去挑选他们喜欢的活动，根据美国儿童医生的建议，11-14岁的孩子每天需要至少1小时的运动(vigorous physical exercise)。

所以中国孩子，尤其是男孩子，如果不复读，不单单是比中国复读的学生年龄小，比美国孩子年龄也小，中国孩子长的年轻 (美国当地高中生已经长的像二十几岁了)，课堂发言气场不够，更不要讲进体育队或竞选学生会了。
体育特长对申高是非常有帮助的， 但这不是我写这篇文章的本意。我希望更多的学生能喜爱运动，不是单单为了申学，而是能有健壮的体格。我接触到的不少学生都是吃货，但运动不够。
不少学校体育教练都讲过 Chinese students quit easily.中国学生遇到挑战，很快就想到放弃。 体育不仅锻炼人的意志力，也能改善学生心理健康问题。不要把时间都花在补习课上，每天花一个小时好好运动吧。

6岁开始学古典小提琴，8岁开始学习钢琴，11岁左右开始学芭蕾舞，15岁左右开始学电子小提琴。会拉丁舞，学了一年的POPPING就参加比赛了。曾获加拿大音乐学院小提琴10级银奖、加拿大安大略省冠军，同样擅长街舞和钢琴。
是学校的文艺积极分子，为他们学校小提琴首席，钢琴冠军，自己还有个乐队(担任鼓手)，然后街舞也是冠军。
Henry从小就接受了各种训练，不但有着出众的小提琴演奏实力，而且在歌唱和舞蹈上都有着不凡的造诣。

多伦多华裔少年刘宪华,学小提琴有一手
16岁的多伦多华裔少年刘宪华，在音乐学院小提琴10级考试中取得好成绩,获得银质奖章表彰，颁奖典礼将于本月27日举行。
刘宪华是北约克A Y Jackson中学的11年级学生，刘宪华的妈妈刘太太昨日介绍，自己三个孩子都学琴，刘宪华是老二，他从6、7岁时开始就学习小提琴，在今年1月举行的小提琴考试中取得95分的成绩，获得10级小提琴类别中的银质奖章。
喜爱小提琴的刘宪华同时还学习钢琴，他学钢琴也考了10级，爱好表演的刘宪华现在还开始学习舞蹈。
热心公益的他还曾经为本地慈善机构如孟尝会和颐康中心的耆老演奏，他还为华人社区的“千叟宴”表演过。
刘太太认为，刘宪华拉小提琴能够取得好成绩，天份、兴趣和老师的指导都非常重要，特别是到了高的级数时，老师的水平更加重要。刘宪华从其俄裔教师的教育中受益良多。

This year, as part of the 10th anniversary celebration, two special Commemorative Awards for Outstanding Achievement will be presented by the Honourable Michael Chan, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration to figure skater Patrick Chan and violin performer Henry Lau.
10th Anniversary Commemorative Award - Henry Lau
Henry is an accomplished 18 year-old from A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in Toronto. Not only has he completed Level 10 piano and violin from the Royal Conservatory of Music, he was awarded the Silver Medal for achieving the highest mark. Playing violin since the age of six, Henry combines his mastery of the instrument with a hip hop dancing style called Boogaloo Popping.
Described as "awesome", "cool", "hot", Henry performed on the music video of the hit Korean boy band, "Super Junior". Known to many as the Violin Boy, this talented musician is gaining international fame.

在过去10年里，申请「林黄彩珍奖」的人数以千计，获奖者只有40位。每位得奖者都必须具有领导才干、并同时拥有多方面的兴趣与才能，以及热心参与社区服务。该奖是为纪念早期加拿大华人以刻苦耐劳及坚毅不屈的精神实现自己在加国的梦想，奖项主办人希望得奖者能承继先辈华人的拓荒精神及努力，为加国多元文化社会的繁荣奠下基石，成为加拿大未来的社会栋梁。
担任本次得奖审核的评审之一Michael Dang就表示，今年共有约250位申请者，经过四位评审的严格审核后，选出以上四位的得奖者。昨晚的颁奖，每位得主每人获得500元奖学金，主办单位也邀请现任公民及移民厅厅长陈国治等多位华裔杰出人士出席这场颁奖典礼。
四位得主中，有一位得奖者黄芷茵因故未能出席。
